Air circuit breakers recognize when a system is at risk of being compromised by an electricity overflow. The electricity surge comes from a disabled ground or circuit in or near the equipment.
The contacts within the circuit break opens when an electricity surge happens. Compressed air extinguishes the arc when the connection opens. The open contacts prevent electricity from flowing through the air circuit breaker to the equipment. Their most common application is in electrical distribution systems.
An air circuit breaker can be either fixed or movable. A fixed breaker is installed between the power source and a load. A movable circuit breaker allows the user to remove the circuit breaker from a power source and load when necessary. The load is the item receiving power, such as house. |
